Q: What is Our Commitment To You?

Q: Do We Accept Insurance?
A: Unfortunately, the answer for many will be no. Given the poorly realized reality of the for-profit nature of health insurance, prevention of disease is not the primary goal of what most people call their “health insurance.” With Functional Medicine, you are looking at what the standard of care would call “elective or cosmetic care.” If we could accept insurance, we would, and hopefully, someday insurance will be used for actual prevention of disease and not just beneficial for emergency/acute care after the disease has been diagnosed.
To help patients with this we really try to impart the importance of the fact that you cannot rely on your health insurance for optimal health. Health Insurance, for the most part, covers disease and injuries, NOT proactive care that will enhance your life and daily activities. If you do let the insurance companies dictate your care, you will be limited to what type of care you will receive, ie medications and surgery.
However, that doesn't mean Functional Medicine is not accessible to the everyday person, quite the opposite actually, most of our patients will pay for their visit and then some, do get a portion back when they submit it to their insurance provider, this is not guaranteed.
So, the short answer is that we are out of network for all insurances and do not accept Medicare.
However, if you have a PPO, you can submit to your insurance as some insurance carriers may cover medical services performed by our clinician. We can provide a detailed receipt for services performed for you to submit to your insurance carrier directly.
You can also use Flexible Spending or Healthcare Spending Accounts as payment. Of note, it is our experience, that our patients find that our fees are fair for the amount of time and the level of expertise we offer then and often comment on the fact that they are investing in themselves and feel that this is more than worth it, as our motive states…“Health is Wealth”.
Q: Can Dr. Scott David Be My “Primary Care Physician”?
A: No, we require that you have your own primary care physician. While our Dr. David is a dual-board certified physician in the specialties of Emergency medicine and Anti-aging and Restorative medicine, he does not provide routine in-office care.
However, we are able to offer Telemedicine urgent care service, which can help you stay out of walk-in clinics or avoid waiting for a visit with your primary care provider. For the most part of our practice, we will work with you closely as consultants and coaches in preventive, nutritional and functional medicine to help you address and hopefully prevent the roots of chronic health problems.
Q: What Do I Need To Do Before My Appointment?
A: Please fill out the intake forms, which will be emailed to you when you make an appointment and kindly scan/email or fax to our office at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment with our physician.
If you were given a Rx for labwork, this must be done before the appointment can be made.
Q: What is Your Cancellation Policy?
A: We understand that there are times when you must miss an appointment due to emergencies or obligations for work or family.
However, when you do not call to cancel an appointment, you may be preventing another patient from getting much-needed treatment. Out of respect for our patients' and physician's time, please note that we require a 2 calendar days' notice for ALL appointment cancellations.
Monday appointments must be cancelled by the Thursday prior by 5pm. If you do not provide this notice, you will be charged $350 as a cancellation fee for new visits and $175 for follow up visits. We will, of course, consider emergencies on an individual basis.
