Perimenopause and Menopause:
The signs and symptoms of aging typically sneak up on women during perimenopause and menopause, and while these phases of life are inevitable, how women experience them can now be improved with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
During perimenopause, which is the phase just before menopause, estrogen and progesterone levels drop, and women can begin to experience signs and symptoms of aging. These hormonal imbalances can cause dysmenorrhea (painful periods), headaches, amenorrhea (loss od period), anovulation, infertility, increased PMS symptoms, bloating, weight gain, water retention, irregular periods, spikes of feeling hot and then cold, and blemished skin.
Usually, women going through perimenopause, first experience changes in their menstrual cycles, many also note a sudden change in their sleep pattern, often complaining of waking at 3am and unable to get back to sleep. Some may feel fatigued or mentally foggy, some may begin to gain weight despite watching their diet and maintaining a healthy amount of exercise and others may begin to see a major decline in their libido.
It is important to note, that unfortunately, nature as way of being individualized; that being said, some women have some symptoms, while others will be lucky enough to have every symptom.
When estrogen and progesterone levels are replaced and balanced with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT), the related symptoms described above, can also disappear.
Menopause occurs after a woman has not had a menstrual period for twelve consecutive months. In the mid 40’s to 50’s, most women’s ovaries stop producing adequate amounts of vital hormones. Menopause marks the end of the reproductive years, and ideally, the adrenal glands are supposed to take over the production of vital hormones. However, because most women, secondary to the normal stressors of life have “burned out” their adrenal glands by their fourth or fifth decades, they are unable to produce essential hormones, which lead to multiple imbalances and deficiencies.
Some of the symptoms that result from these imbalances are similar to those mentioned above, some include:
- Reduced mental clarity
- Decreased muscle mass
- Bone loss
- Decreased libido
The positive effects of Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy for women include enhanced libido, cardiovascular protection, increased energy and vitality, increased feelings of overall well being, depression relief, cognitive clarity, decreased symptoms of PMS, reduced body fat, stronger bones, and decreased inflammation. Dr.David has helped women going through perimenopause and menopause to reduce the signs of aging and improve their health with Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. Together, Dr. David and his patients have been able to avoid or stop, the most common symptoms that often make this time of life less enjoyable, these include:
